Ensata Gardens
BOB JOHN BILLY

Doing in Spring what should have been done in Fall...

In 1997 from upper left: Bob Bauer, John Coble and Sherman

anticipating another great growing season in Michigan!

In 2004, Midwest Living Magazine did a feature article  about the Japanese iris at Ensata Gardens and overwhelmed us with catalog requests and iris orders. But we really think that it was the photos of the iris that made people buy the plants!

Our 40th year growing and selling Japanese and Siberian irises by mail order. We used to have the largest collection of Japanese varieties outside of Japan, about 450 varieties, but now only have about 100 cultivars.

In Winter, we used to devote full time to Bauer-Coble STUDIOS, a stained glass studio which we founded 48 years ago.  We no longer make or sell stained glass.

~1981 when we thought

we would specialize in Spuria iris.  Things change !!
